This is music related, but it's also comic book related, and features Magneto, a character JB has a long association with, so I posted it here in the main forum. It's an animated music video set to the song "Magneto and Titanium Man":

"Magneto and Titanium Man" was a song originally recorded by Wings, the band fronted by legendary former Beatles member Paul McCartney. The song is about the villainous Marvel Comics characters (and The Crimson Dynamo joins the fun).

This particular video is animated by a very talented fellow who goes by the name "Alvaortega" on YouTube. He has many other fun animations on his channel, mostly Beatles-related. Anyway, enjoy the song & video!

It's a fun song and the animation is very well done. As to the lyrics and the story they tell, it makes no sense !

One of the strangest moves to create a cliffhanger was an issue of IRON MAN that featured Titanium Man as a "mysterious shadowy figure" on the last page.

I mean, come on! Nobody else has that silhouette!

Going to ask the obvious question:

Have Magneto and Titanium Man ever teamed up?

Well, that was cute!  And I'd never heard that song before--a little catchy!

Not to be nitpicky, but I always wonder about these pop culture references to comic characters.  You would think that Paul McCartney must know something about these characters to even use their names (two of them would be pretty obscure even then, and this is LONG before Magneto appeared in the movies), but these are three characters who would NEVER rob a bank!

And if I were Titanium Man or the Crimson Dynamo, I would stay FAR away from Magneto!

I used to have a cassette tape with BAND ON THE RUN on one side and
VENUS AND MARS on the other. What a great combo! So I listened to this
song a lot growing up.

I picked up comic books from my brother, so Marvel was a regular thing in our
house and it didn't strike me as unusual that a popular song would note
Marvel characters. In retrospect, it is quite unusual that it would be these two
(well, three with Crimson Dynamo).

My main reaction to the song at the time was that the lyrics weren't a very
good comic book story. McCartney is a brilliant musician, but when it comes
to interpreting the Marvel Universe, Kevin Feige he is not! I think I appreciate it
more now.

I like that the animator used imagery from the VENUS AND MARS cover art.

And the images of the band are from the cover art to WINGS OVER AMERICA,
the live album from the VENUS AND MARS tour.

Great stuff, Matt!!

Glad you enjoyed it, Tim and others!

Here's footage from a Wings concert in  the 1970s of the song being performed while images of the Marvel characters are projected on a screen behind the band:

As far as I know, Marvel has never actually teamed Magneto with Titanium Man (and/or The Crimson Dynamo), but I would have thought in the years since the song's release somebody would have done it.

Paul McCartney has been said to have been a comic book fan. He and the other Beatles are shown having a number of Superman titles displayed on their piano in the movie "HELP!" (1965). But, yeah, Magneto wasn't typically known to be a bank robber, nor the other two villains. Still, it's cool that a song about them was written, especially by a super star musician, and during an era when such a thing was very uncommon to hear.

I have wondered for year... McCartney sings as an unnamed character in the song, that obviously has partnered with the other criminals until a female hero makes him change his ways. So... was he imagining himself as another Marvel villain? Hmm....

Steve Gumm, I love that photo and the drawing by Kirby. I saw it many years ago, and for me it's particularly awesome as comics and The Beatles are two of my favorite things. I believe there is another photo from that meeting of the legends, too.
