Many claim the "right" to bear arms, and to belong to "militias" in order that they can "protect" themselves FROM the government. Which rather overlooks the fact that only the government can "regulate", so to place oneself at odd with said goverment is to automatically lose the protection of the Second Amendment.

It's not unlike the southerners who wanted to take their slaves with them, as the expanded westward, and claimed "states rights" to protect themselves, missing the significant point that "states rights" do not extend beyond state borders.
