I love this peek into alt John Byrne's work, but a thought has occurred: what prevents Marvel or DC from photoshopping all new stories out of JB's old work after he has... departed? My understanding (little as it may be) is that the respective companies own the images - hence clip art - so wouldn't they be able to PS and print them however they choose?

I believe they have that right but it would be more work than normal. It would probably sell like hotcakes though....We all love John Byrne and if we could clone him we would.

Not the cover of Next Men: Aftermath #31 that you remember?
Back before the long break from Next Men, JB would put a tiny black and white version of the cover of the next issue in the comments page. This is what issue #31 would have looked like had he continued. I added the color and masthead with PhotoShop all those years ago.
