I suppose given your body of work, Mr Byrne, one could not possibly retain every memory.

I see it with others, e.g. wrestlers struggling to recall specific matches, actors claiming they don't remember working on a specific movie or show, etc.

Plus, it was a long time ago, eh?

Don't know how you got listed on that at all. You weren't even a contributor, according to the inside credits.

This cover is credited to you, JB, with Rudy Nebres as inker. He overwhelmed your pencils, it appears. I am thinking this is why you are listed.

That's me. But on the basis of that I am listed as "author"?

Pencilling one single panel got you listed on the cover of The Spirit Magazine #30 (the 'Jam' issue). But yes, it might be unfair to your fans if they buy something like that on the basis of the credit.

I remember trying to will my spirit to Barsoom for some reason when I was pretty young and had just read the first ERB book. :^)

Amazon's system for credits is pretty wonky. I learned this when I published a collection through Amazon's Createspace. It doesn't really allow for properly distinguishing contributor's credits on its site's pages.

Looking at Amazon for the book in question, that isn't even the Marvel Comics version! It's the Jesse Marsh collection, which was originally published by Dell long before JB worked professionally. Weird!

It's definitely a mistake, then. I am pretty sure there wasn't another "John Byrne" in comics, that I ever heard. Paul S. Newman was the writer. Dark Horse's website doesn't credit any "John Byrne" as part of the collection, either:  LINK!

"Ironically", I could imagine having quite a bit of fun with John Carter. I mean, c'mon! Who doesn't love Tharks?*

----------

* Atchully, Tharks might drive me nuts. Burroughs did NOT describe them as having four arms. He described the middle set of limbs as being both arms AND legs, depending on how they were used.
