Single portraits or images that could be sold as posters. At least, that's what
I've heard -- and that was a while ago.

Swear to [X] -- I thought, when I first read the title of this thread, that someone had finally requested a commission of the McKenzie brothers.
As others have noted, the use of claws instead of "blades" is much appreciated, JB. I never liked that look, either.

One of the recent Marvel Legends Iron Man figures I bought had a poster book included, and it was all cover images from the previous few years of the book, so I'd say what you heard is pretty much on the money.

JB, I'm not sure if I'm phrasing this as clearly as I could, but do you feel different when drawing images like the 3 from the past three days? I mean, are you intentionally making a mental adjustment to pull off that effect of the figures (Hulk, GL, and now Wolverine) literally leaping off the page at the viewer? Your work is always exciting and intense, but these three in particular have a different sort of intensity. They "startle" the viewer! *** This takes us into that part of the job that I have been doing for so long I don't know how I do it any more. One of the reasons I would make a lousy teacher!

"Keep in mind that Marvel covers tend toward iconic shots of single characters rather than groups of characters or storytelling elements."*** In English that would be "We are so fucked up and beyond any hope of hitting a deadline that we have no idea what's in the book and ask the cover artists for single figures in the hopes that maybe at least some of those will actually get turned in."

For the first time since joining this forum...I completely disagree with you JB. The fact that you take the time to answer all these questions, often in such detail and with such patience and honesty makes you an excellent teacher.

I know how much I've learned in the past two months just from listening, and I'm grateful.

Not to change the focus of the thread too much, but have you ever taught a ourse JB or considered teaching a course? Perhaps when you retire?

Hard to tell looking at that pic that it is the same character. My my how times have changed. JB, with the numbr of requests that you get for Wolverine, how do you always manage to bring something fresh to the table?
