John Byrne said: "And the owner just "outed" himself. . . Hope you didn't miss yesterday's large piece, James" Actually I was traveling on business yesterday and completely missed the X-Men vs. Alpha Flight commission that you posted.  I just found it based on your post on this thread and it's absolutely amazing!  It turned out even better than I could have imagined.  Many many thanks!

I'm definitely feeling lucky today!  Between the X-Men vs. Alpha Flight commission and the bound volume sketch, I'm loving life!

JB, you've said that you don't like to do likenesses, or real people, so I wonder... Now that I'm rolling in dough, I thought I'd finally sniff around for a commission, and I was having a hard time thinking of what was the ultimate John Byrne thing I'd like to see (JBNM is closest...) and then it occured to me - that comic idea that Frank Strysk had!  Batman and Robin vs the Joker vs....KISS. KISS are real people, but they're also characters - in fact, there are now new guys playing the roles of the Catman and Space Ace - would you ever consider such a commission, or should I go back to dreaming of the Next Men?

KISS might push the envelope in terms of copyright infringement. After all, the comic character commissions traditionally skate by as "free advertising", but I have never been associated with KISS (and I'm sure my longtime friendship with the boys -- hey, I met 'em once. That's all it takes, right! -- wouldn't count for much.)

Plus I would have to charge extra for the copious use of reference that would be needed to get their suits right. You are correct on one score, tho. The make-up would pretty much take care of the likenesses problem.

Good Point, JB!  I also forgot to factor in how much Mr Simmons protects the KISS trademark!   Having said that, I'd pay whatever it took... even if I had to cut Gene a check, too... But I understand the logic, and will go back to thinking about a JBNM picture! Thanks!

d'oh!!  Now THAT's the commission I should get!  The Uatu and Me cast shot!  Uatu, JB, Rog2000, Linclone... wow... how cool would that be? How unlikely would that be to happen, too? Heh...

As long as you didn't post it or anything JB or Mike, I say what Gene doesn't know know won't hurt them. Just don't advertise it or anything and they'll be none the wiser. ( Of course, I'd have to have a scan of the image e-mailed to me or something...)
