This remains one of my all-time favorites. That is the iconic look for both characters and the energy of this piece just jumps right off of the page.

Re: Those old Hulk vs Sub-Mariner battles… It was cool to see such a relatively “skinny” guy not just go toe to toe with the jade giant, but triumph against him.

Roger Stern has commented that the first time he saw Namor it was in battle with the Hulk. The way it was drawn it looked as if the Sub-Mariner was naked!*

“A naked guy fighting the Hulk!” Roger was impressed.

* Alex Ross took it too far by having Namor actually naked in MARVELS.
