Heading up to Canada for 10 days starting at the crack of dawn tomorrow, so here's a little something to hopefully tide you over until I get back!

Approx 11x17 inches

ADDENDUM: Received a notification from Denis Kitchen that the correct legalities on this piece should read © 2009 and ® Will Eisner Studios, Inc.

So there we go!

Love the effect of the torch light, the expression on his face and the sense of swinging movement created by the tie and the overall body-posture.

Do the pipes in the background spell something out? Spirah? Or am I seeing things?

edited to add: doh! Spirit!

I know nothing at all about The Spirit other than he was created by Will Eisner, but I know this commission is excellent.  Love the backgrounds.  Is there any significance to the gloves?  I'm wondering if there's an arch-enemy just off-page.

The gloves were the trademark of the Octopus, a recurrent villain who readers never really got to see.
