The detail is stunning, the facial expressions are magnificent, and once again, I am convinced that no one else should be drawing Captain America.

:) In fact, it looks so fresh and new that it seems to have been done only yesterday, instead of a month ago... at least, according to the subject of this posting. ;)

Lovely job, Mr. Byrne. I wish I could afford my two dream JB commission.

I LOVE this. What a great 3D space. And Hitler is appropriately terrified and screwed.

Hard to believe hat when Cap returned in AVENGERS No. 4, Wolrd
War II had ended only 20 years earlier. Shift that to today and Steve
Rogers would he a first Gulf War veteran (and that would be 23 years!).

The differences between the 40s and the 60s were astounding, more
than just technological, it was a cultural shift, and Steve Rogers was a
man out of his time for larger reasons than just pop culture,

Man, I loved those Lee/Kirby Cap stories from the 1960s.

Another fantastic piece. With Cap, Bucky, Red Skull and the Hate Monger himself, what's not to love about this one. I really like how you depicted Hitler's uniform. The detail is amazing in this commission. Success once again (what oops).

••

That was a major inspiration for the LOST GENERATION series I did with Roger Stern. I'd been saying for years that the gap between Cap going into the ice and his later emerging had grown longer and longer, and some idiot was likely to try to fill it.

Then I decided to be that idiot!

Good news and bad news.

Good news for me, the customer wants the piece as is.

Bad news for those of you who have already contacted Jim Warden about buying it.

I would have been dumbfounded if it were otherwise, it's an outstanding commission.  Congrats to the lucky owner!

I could see the commissioner wanting Baron Blood as originally requested, but how cool is it to have a piece where JB's subconscious took over? ;)

I was one of those people! I don't blame the commissioner at all. I'd
have been shocked if they passed on it.
