My doctor predicted four to six weeks recovery time.

Don’t know if that qualifies as “speedy”!

It's amazing that even an old body can health itself.

My mother's approaching 90, had a bad fall in April, broke 5 ribs in 9 places, had bleeding in her chest cavity requiring surgery, then SICU, hospital, rehab, living in my house too for about 11 days -- but less than six weeks after her fall, she's back in her home, living again on her own, independent, doing all her chores, even running our family business, etc. She was in very good shape before the fall, so that helped a lot, but still... kind of amazing to into your ninth decade and still recovery is a real thing. Hmph.

My wife suffered a workplace accident 4 years ago slipping on ice and landing on the back of her head. She suffered a brain injury and it changed her eyes so she needs glasses. We have been rehabbing since then and she has come a long way but for the first two years I thought she would have her capacity drastically limited for the rest of her life.

Head injuries are no joke

Given my age, I am resigned to the fact that “complete recovery” is not in the cards. If I can get to a place where I am not hobbling around like Tim Conway’s Little Old Man I’ll be reasonably content.

Last month, some maniac Hannibal Lecter kid bit my three year old grandson's cheek, punctured the skin, drew blood, all red and gross. Within three-four days, it was like it never happened. Poof!

Meanwhile, over three months ago I got a cut on my old hand, and it's still little bit discolored (though I can fake like it's a liver spot).
