…JB puts ink on a piece of cloth or cotton and "dabs" it on?

Close.

Congratulations, Clint.  Another masterpiece for your collection.

I love the way JB uses different techniques for your commissions.

Beautiful piece J.B. wonderful details...
As to how J.B. did the bees, My son and I are in agreement It looks to be done via a form of speckling

What a wonderful commission!  Congratulations, Clint.  That's another fine addition to the "Clink Ludwick Gallery of Horrors".

Wow! How did you draw the bees?

••

Hmmm... before I simply tell you, any of our resident artists (or others
who are so inclined) care to take a guess?

--

Mask off the outline, used a sponge for the swarm, then use pen for adding a bit of refined texture.  Maybe?

Good use of perspective in this one.  Could be used as a movie poster for a 3D film.

Strangely enough I just had to draw a page where someone was attacked by a rather annoyed Ant colony.  Wish I'd seen this before doing that.  Might have approached it differently.  Ah well, you learn something every day.

It's simply amazing! I love the texture of Swarm and particularly how you can see the bottom of his right heel. I'd love to see a bigger version to see the bee technique. I think this is where John excels; drawing medium to small characters.

I also remember Swarm from the cartoon series and not from any comic.

Swaaaaaarm!
