I hope Jahf decides to stick around with the X-Men for awhile.

This is the kind of smooth transitional scene that nobody else seems to be able to pull off these days. There's like four things going on at once, as there should be when a bunch of mutants (including two telepaths) dock with and board a ship full of aliens!

Thanks! I'm reminded once again of a story I have told before.

In an early issue of DOOMSDAY+1 I was called upon to draw an airplane cockpit. So, off I trotted to the local (Calgary) library on what turned out to be an unrewarding quest for reference. I tried a few bookstores, with no luck there, either.

Then, as I was walking back to my apartment, it occurred to me that I was focusing on those of my audience who would know what a cockpit looked like--which was probably about .0001%. So, borrowing a page from the book of Ken Adam, the production designer on DR. STRANGELOVE, I decided to invent my cockpit, making it all up as Adam had done for that movie's key B-52 set.

And that's what I've done ever since. (Important to note, of course, that I am rarely asked to draw realistic cockpits in realistic aircraft. They're mostly all sci-fi, as on yesterday's page.)

Love the split halves of Professor X and Jean when they are communicating.

Nice touch with Jahf at the head of line to meet his comrades.

And can anyone out there please tell me how to pronounce:

Shi'ar

SHE-AR, slightly slurred, so it's almost SHAR.

SHE YAR? That's how I've always pronounced it.

BTW -- rereading it as I post this issue, I am reminded that it paced out to 19 pages. I looked for somewhere to insert an "interlude" that could get it up to the usual 20, but nothing really suggested itself.

So this issue will finish on July 1st, and the next will start on July 5th.

Xavier lost his cool wheelchair.

I laughed pretty hard at Gladiator's line to Jahf.  He will be missed if he stays with the Guard.

That fourth panel showing the underside of the ship is a thing of beauty! (The shadowed face of Professor X in the first panel ain't too shabby either!)

It’s sitting in the back of Teri’s car.

Really must address that one of these days…..
