Another incredible commission JB. Heh, love the Penguin strafing Batman, Two-Face's dagger and Jokers gun. Robin might be helpful in this situation, what a scene.

Amazing!

Those are some pretty tough odds… Even for the Batman!

I love these pieces that show John's mastery of depth. I don't see too many of the new crowd have this level of skill when it come to depth in their work. Fabulous work as always John!

Batman could be in trouble here. The double-bladed dagger is a nice touch, as are the bullet holes in the cape/ the gunpowder puffs from the Penguin's umbrella. Harley Quinn's hammer seems extra dastardly when you draw it.

About the Penguin, a bit of family history.

My Dad used to tell the story of a terrifying experience he's had in Burma during WW2. He and the four other guys he was in charge of were driving the British equivalent of a Jeep down a road between fields when a Japanese shell exploded about forty feet to the right. A few moments later, another exploded the same distance to the left. A perfect bracket. They sped up, but were all waiting for the third shot, right in the middle --- which did not come. (I most likely would not be here if it had!)

Drawing the Penguin shooting at Batman, I'd laid in a shot coming up thru the cape and just missing the side of Batman's chest. Then, before I inked it, for some reason I remembered Dad's tale, and thought I might create a little more tension if the Penguin was ABOUT to fire the next shot. The one that might HIT Batman!
