The alternative is one side in power (think, oh, let's say for fun... a TRUMP administration!!) fining, jailing (or worse) the other side for the messages they don't "like".  I'll keep our First Amendment, imperfections and all.

There is another alternative. You have an independant body that regulates the advertisers and if an ad breaches rules, it can be banned and the advertisers fined.

Most countries don't need a first amendment to be free to speak your mind but there should be consequences if you lie!

If you're a Keith Olbermann fan, you will like to know that he is posting a daily blog entry, as such, on YouTube. It is not for Trump fans, to be sure, but it is classic Keith Olbermann.

I am posting yesterday's about Trump's 50 Greatest Atrocities. It's enlightening and mostly factual. Enjoy.

Totally off topic, but, I worked in Suffern for two years at Café Dolce whilst living in Mahwah and going to graduate school in the city! I saw many movies at the Lafayette Theater. It's a small world after all.

Leigh,

Just who chooses this magical "independent" body?

If you went to grad school at CUNY (CCNY), then it'd be even smaller - my dad was mathematics professor there up until his retirement about ten years ago.

Marc,

Well in this country, the equivalent body is the Advertising Standards Authority. It's the advertisers' self-regulatory body and to my mind, seems to work quite well. Not sure about all the members but the chairman, I believe has to have no vested interests in the industry.

Trump may be all over the place when it comes to running the country, but at least he knows how to organise a rally. Oh, wait...

Dave, I was about 75 blocks south at John Jay, and thankfully didn't have to take any more math for Forensic Psychology!

Is Putin is tired of Trump? Here is Putin responding when asked about Hunter Biden’s business dealings in Ukraine:

“[Hunter Biden] had at least one company, which he practically headed up, and judging from everything he made good money. I don’t see anything criminal about this, at least we don’t know anything about this.”

Does anyone on the board live in a swing district in a battleground state?  At this point, Pennsylvania and North Carolina seem to be the biggest question marks - what's the energy like on the ground, there?

The numbers I'm seeing this morning:52 million mail-in ballots cast,26 million in-person votes.
What happens to America if Trump's Supreme Court essentially throws Out the mail-in Ballots, received after Election day?

That is why Trump's Crony slowed down the postal service. That court order demanding the mail-sorting machines be re-installed was useless because those machines were scrapped.
