Hi JB,Recently I read two unreleased issues of Ms Marvel that would have been issues #24 and #25. In issue #25, which would have had a cover date of August 1979, we meet Hellfire Club members Leyland, Pierce and Selene, we also see Carol Danvers dancing as the Black Queen and being manipulated by Mastermind disguised as Jason Wyngarde in silhouette and Sebastian Shaw's name is mentioned. We also see the new Brotherhood of Evil Mutants appear, Mystique, Rogue,Destiny (out of costume), Pyro and Avalanche.

As you were co-plotting X-Men at the time, my question to you is, prior to Ms Marvel's cancellation, were the plots of the two series going to meet up or just play off of one another?

Edited to fix typo.

Where did you read unreleased Marvel comics?  I know people have seen a lot of DC's cancelled comics from the DC Implosion, but I never heard of Marvel releasing theirs.

Ms Marvel Masterworks Volume 2. It was also in the Marvel Super-Heroes Anthology in the 90s and has a new 10-page ending to link it to Avengers Annual #10.

There is a lesson to be learned, here. Many fans had a picture of the Marvel Bullpen as a place where we all hung out, and the whole space was constantly abuzz with creativity.

In fact, most writers and artists worked from home, and only occasionally visited the Office. And what were thought of as "collaborations" were anything but. (Joe Sinnott told me that he did not meet Kirby until after their "collaboration" on FANTASTIC FOUR, and there was no communication between them in that time.)

I knew there were plans for Sabretooth to battle Ms. Marvel in an unpublished story meant for her first series (later published in the 1990s' "Marvel Super-heroes" anthology series), but I never heard about the planned Hellfire issues.

Marvel Super-Heroes was an anthology series published for fifteen issues starting in 1990.  Like Marvel Fanfare before it, it became something of a dumping ground for unpublished inventory stories.  When Ms. Marvel was cancelled in 1979, two completed stories by Claremont and Vosburg (intended for issues #24 and #25 of her series) were left unpublished.  These two stories wound up appearing in Marvel Super-Heroes #10 and #11 in 1992.  The first story (intended for issue #25) featured Sabre Tooth, and the second featured The Hellfire Club.  Below is a page from the latter story, which probably was being created right around the same time Jason Wyngarde was first starting to appear in X-Men:

How different things would have turned out for the X-Men (and likely the industry) if those issues were published as intended.
