JB, I am unfamiliar with the use of "ALL FLASH" as you wrote it. I am sure it will seem obvious once explained, but please explain.
BTW, my favorite detail is that your Galactus always has that stern, yet calm demeanor.

Another fabulous commission. I -really- wish that there were an opportunity to see an FF story from you John. A GN or short series...just something.
There are so many comics these days that seem to be pitched at tiny 'minority' audiences, that this would probably feel 'mainstream' by comparison.
Anyway, back to Galactus. Throughout your professional career, you -really- took ahold of this character and made him your own and gave him some real gravitas.
-D

It is a lovely piece of art, as is customarily the case.
But... and I may be the only one... I can't help but see this as a still from a porn flick, with that handy piece of machinery covering Galactus'... regions.
Of course, Galactus appears to people as they would see him, and I'm a dirty old man anyhow, and it's probably time for my medication... :D

Isn't the uncoveredness the whole POINT of porn flicks? (By the way - Dood! Professional help! Seek it! Quickly!!)

Leaving aside that Bob Layton comicbook where Hercules gets Galactus drunk -- ... sheesh!... -- Galactus doesn't ever smile, right? By which I mean to more broadly ask, his expression is (or should be) always the same, JB has it rendered above, right?

By which I mean to more broadly ask, his expression is (or should be) always the same, JB has it rendered above, right?•• When I came onto the FF as writer/artist, Shooter gave me one order first: "Restore Galactus!" I knew exactly what he meant. Over the years Galactus had degenerated into a cosmic thug, far from the intellectually challenging character to whom we'd been introduced. I embraced the challenge, and spent two years building Galactus back up to his former levels. In what seemed hardly a heartbeat after I was done, Shooter let Layton use Galactus as comedy relief in his HERCULES series.* Thanks guys! As to Galactus' ever-impassive face, he has been known to show anger from time to time, but happiness is elusive. When I planned out my "Last Fantastic Four" story, I envisioned a scene very close to the end where Galactus would essay a hint of a smile, in appreciation of all the FF had done for him. –––––––––––– * Layton also gave Galactus "square eyes", not at all what Kirby had drawn, and that I had followed. But, of course, that mistake became canon.

JB you never fail to amaze, this is a stunning piece! There is always a bit of extra wonderment when you draw Galactus, I think it's how effortlessly you handle such a complex costume. His facial expression is always right on the mark. Plus, there is all that amazing complex machinery.. WOW!
I imagine somewhere Jack Kirby is smiling : )

...how effortlessly you handle such a complex costume. ••• When I set about restoring Galactus, one of the things I immediately realized was that this campaign would require me to draw the character a LOT of times. A LOT! So I sat down with all the drawings of Galactus I could find and set about formalizing them into a single design. No easy task! Kirby, for one, rarely drew the character the same way twitce. Even on the same page. But eventually I ended up with a version I liked. It was gratifying to see "my" Galactus turn up as many of the toy versions of the character. (Tho oddly, one toy based on an FF cover I did does NOT use my Galactus!) Of course, I have tinkered with my "model" several times in the years since. That sorta goes with the trade.
