I was probably one of the few people who liked "New" Coke.
The original Coke was too heavy and Pepsi was too sweet. The new Coke was right in between, perfect. Then it was gone and I went back to RC.
I've stopped drinking pop though since the kidney stone a few years back.

Diet Coke is like antifreeze to me.

When did you drink antifreeze, Matt? ;-)

Just out of interest, is Cherry Coca-Cola popular over there? I've never heard an American mention it, but quite a few of us Brits like it.

FWIW, I would not have any way of knowing about the taste, but during Passover, Coca-Cola releases a special kosher Coke that avoids corn syrup - which is not suitable during Passover. I don't know if that's more like the original or not - I don't even know if anyone remembers the original taste - but that's all I know about that.

Over here, cheery coke and cherry pepsi are readily available, but only in cans and little bottles. For some reason, they never sell it in the 2-litre bottles.
I'm a Pepsi man anyway, but quite like the idea of a tweak to Coke Zero. I find it a bit lacking in taste.

This change happened over here a while back. Seems some people above think Coke Zero now tastes different - it doesn't. I am drinking a can right now! It's exactly the same, the branding just looks different.
The only problem is that each coke entity now looks very similar. I accidentally bought some cherry coke once because it looked like zero.

You raise a profound point, intentionally or not. How much does perception play a part in people thinking something tastes different? If Coca-Cola started being sold in orange-coloured cans, would people *think* they were drinking something different?

A lot of trendy restaurants and places like Costco and Bevmo carry Mexican Coke, which is sweetened with cane sugar rather than corn syrup.

I'm not much of a cola drinker. 7-Up or ginger ale are fine, or root beer if I want something 'darker'.

Tried Root Beer,to my British taste buds it was very medicine-like! I hesitate to use the word medicinal as that implies some form of good!

I do want to try green cola (no sugar, no aspartame), available from Amazon and Ocado. Curious about the taste, you see.
