Imagine Marvel Studios had been founded in the 60s - and made movies from that period until the 80s. Who would you have cast in films?

I am not sure my casting is good because my brother said it's lame (he joked I shouldn't be a casting director ever) but this is what I thought:

60s

William Shatner as Mr. Fantastic

70s

Burt Reynolds as Iron Man
Max Von Sydow as Vulture

80s

Bill Paxton as Spider-Man
Geena Davis as Mary Jane
Arnold Schwarzenegger as Juggernaut
Tom Selleck as Iron Man
King Kong Bundy, WWF wrestler, as Kingpin

Over to you.

60's

Vincent Price as Dr. Strange
Laurence Harvey as Reed Richards
Sandra Dee as Sue Storm
Oliver Reed as Ben Grimm/ The Thing animated by Ray Harryhausen
Mark Hamill as Johnny Storm
Martin Landau as Dr. Doom

70's

Reb Brown as Captain America
Michael J Fox as Spider-Man
Laurette Spang as Gwen Stacy
Tom Seleck as Iron Man

That's all I got so far.

edited to add Martin Landau

I'm watching BONNIE & CLYDE right now, and I think Faye Dunaway would have made a great Invisible Girl in the '60s... and Warren Beatty might have made a decent Wonder Man in the '70s!

The X-Men (original team) - 1980s

Brad Pitt as Angel/Warren Worthington

***

Forgive my pedantry, David, but whilst Pitt was acting on TV in the late eighties with his breakthrough film role not coming until 1991 in Thelma and Louise, he feels a little out of place in a list of 1980s actors. That said, sound casting otherwise.

Fantastic Four, 1964:

Reed Richards: Jeffrey Hunter

Susan Storm: Susan Oliver

Ben Grimm: Rod Taylor (Janos Prohaska in the Thing suit)

Johnny Storm: That new kid who works in the cafeteria. The chickies seem to dig him.

I can imagine Jeffrey Hunter as Mister Fantastic.

I wanted to cast Parker/Spider-Man, circa 1962, but no actor is coming to mind.

From the 60s, I think Tab Hunter would've been a good Angel:

This is Brad Pitt as he appeared on Dallas in the 80's.  So I gotta get rid of him because he wasn't a big star?

This kid's face just screams "pretty, rich boy Warren Worthington AKA the ANGEL!" : )

A Thor movie, circa 1984, should definitely have had Hulk Hogan in the role!

By the way, 50% of my ideas are serious, 50% are me being deliberately absurd. I'll let people decide which is which. ;-)

It would have been quite the achievement given when the first appearance of Ghost Rider and the team itself was!

...

Ha! Right Peter.
Let's just take Ghost Rider out and say Evel Knievel is a "guest star" in this film that has a partial X-Men team meet a sometimes Avengers duo :-)

Fair point, David. Too baby faced in my opinion, but I'll let you have him 😉
