There's no way in high holy fuck Trump resigns. That would be admitting defeat, and as we all know, Trump never loses.

Oh, he could, Brian. The wanker would spin it positively, i.e. he'd say something like, "The fake news media prevented me doing my role, but away from the White House, I can and will work to create jobs and make America great again." If he stepped in dog-shite, he'd put a positive spin on it!

Trump seems already to be angling toward such a ploy:

“The public is learning (even more so) how dishonest the Fake News is. They totally misrepresent what I say about hate, bigotry etc. Shame!"

Fake News! How dare they broadcast exactly what he said by the insidious process of using recordings of him saying it!

There was one writer I worked with (not Chris) who seemed utterly unable to stand behind anything he ever said. For him I coined "I did not say what I said when I said what I did not say!" Rump in a nutshell.

And that was deliberate, by the way. That's how everyone should spell his name.

...

Didn't seem like it mattered to the base.
A CBS poll had 67% of Republicans polled agreeing with Trump's comments on Charlottesville.
He's got them all "Hypnotized"!

One of my wealthy White neighbors* said it was "White fear" that got Rump elected. Seeming truer every day!

______________

* Who did not vote for Rump.

JB: "One Man One Vote is the only system that should ever be considered"

I agree with the sentiment and the democratic process. But part of me keeps saying that that process means the the voters include those who don't read - I mean ANYTHING. They believe only what the see on their favorite news channel, and I don't know if there is a single unbiased news program out there.

And there are those Americans who are DESPERATE for royalty again. They do not want to be involved in determining their civic leaders; they do not care to indulge in matters of public interest; they want someone to handle things for them, so long as they keep their jobs and homes and food on the table, and get to get rid of those others who want to take everything away from them.

These are obviously matters that could be countered by basic education. I just fear that most Americans would vote for bread and circuses without the least idea of how their nation, state, city is being run.

And yet, in the end, I'm not sure that there's any better system than One Man, One Vote. And yes, please be sure that by "Man", I include women. I'd say "of course", but it may not feel natural to too many people either.

The first two years of the President's
budget is the previous administrations
budget. Anything positive happing to the
economy is all due to Obama. So a dumb sss
like Trump of course thinks he did
something when absolutely nothing of his
agenda is in place and won't be for
awhile.

This is a common trick used by politicians, including UK ones.

Anything good happening early in an administration, they can say, "Look it's us. We're making a difference." But as UK parties often do, any bad thing can be, "Hey, the previous administration was in power for 13 years. It's not our fault." Typical politics.
