Speaking to JB's professionalism, a customer ordered a Hulk/Thing commission thru Jim Warden. Apparently, they had requested a portrait configuration, JB accidentally did a landscape layout, but did another piece portrait style at no extra charge to fix it.

I visited Jim and he still had the landscape version, so I bought it. Everybody won.

"Patience is a Virue"

The misspelling really twisted the knife.

Speaking of twisting knives, no need to rehash the Golden fiasco at this late date!

JB, when do you plan on opening your commission list again?

That was actually a typo on my part (though I typed "vitue" rather than "virue." I'd never even noticed that Golden did that in the commission as well until you said this! I doubt his was any more intentional either as I just made the same mistake. I have some friends who are tattoo artists and just about all of them have at one time or another, misspelled a word or left out a letter. You'd think when you are putting words on human skin permanently you'd be a lot more careful, especially considering mistakes like that can negatively impact your business.

I remember Larry Stroman drawing some interesting looking comics in the early 90's. Then his work disappeared from the comic book shelves. I hope he didn't leave to pursue a career in commissions.

I didn't care much for Stroman on the Marvel superhero titles (although I enjoyed X-Factor despite not being a huge fan of his art), but I loved his art on Alien Legion which I thought better suited his style.

X-Factor was okay. Agree that Alien Legion was his crowning achievement.

Stroman's art isn't my cup of tea. But if he really did this to a customer, I hope it costs him a lot of potential work (meaning commissions) down the road.

Not quite the worst story I've heard. Wasn't there an incident years ago involving a former DC artist who took a customer's money for a commission, and more or less vanished? May have been before or sometime soon after, the Michael Golden incident.
