They have a pretty fair number of episodes left to this season so...

are we heading for a literal Earth-shattering finale?

My bet: Deke dies tragically, soon after Fitz and Simmons realize their connection, and the *real* earth-breaker is whatever Hale is working on.

Just started the penultimate season 5 episode. This show is SO damn good right now. Never saw this happening to Talbot. Great shout out to INFINITY WAR. Sooooooo glad it was renewed.

Talbot even looks like Graviton. Nifty - I almost wish he'd have showed up in Infinity War. And I guess he still might, in A:4.

I agree Eric. Graviton is the type of villain I would like to see in the movies.
Formidable and with cause. A true comic book baddie.

I feel like they should have stolen the title of the last episode from the Wilco song/documentary: I Am Trying to Break Your Heart.

They really stuck the landing on this one. I didn't see the last twist coming but it made perfect sense.

I find I look forward to this show every week more than any other.

And Talbot as Graviton was pure comic book--and I mean that in the best possible way!  I wish the MCU and the Arrowverse handled more villains just like this.

Wow, what a finale. I couldn't get it out of my mind for a day or two.
The fact that there will be a 6th season is good and bad. This whole season and specially the finale was designed as the end of the show. Boy, the finale's title was "the end".
There has been lots of elements during the season taken from previous seasons, specially from the first one. This last episode was clearly closing the circle.
So, the fact that the series will be renewed is good news, since the quality has improved a lot, but the series won't have this great and suitable finale.

I am not ashamed to admit the last scene between Coulson and Quake had me crying.  It was definitely EARNED by them, though.

The episode was written to serve as both a season finale and a series finale (in the event it wasn't renewed) so we got a bit of actual closure instead of the usual  cliffhangers. Where it goes from here will be interesting to see. I'd guess that the upcoming final season will likely be about getting SHIELD back up and running as originally intended.

I think the line by Simmons about time not being absolute or whatever will play both into the INFINITY WAR sequel and season six. And Coulson will be back. I especially like the out they are playing with Fitz. Pretty clever.

I just finished watching it this morning and felt like crying a few times. I was surprised that it did not tie into the end of Infinity War, but since the original intent was to write this episode as the last one I can understand not doing so, though now with a 6th season scheduled I wonder what could have been (Coulson and May standing together and then Coulson vanishes).

Even if they had gone in knowing they were going to be renewed, I highly doubt that they would have tied into INFINITY WAR on that level. Thereís just too many moving parts. They tried that in Season 1, and the show suffered a little bit for it.

Iíve also watched too much FUTURAMA, because the moment Fitz died, I immediately yelled out the solution at the TV.

I watched the last 5 episodes last night and I was a wreck during the finale.

Talbot as Graviton was so freaking awesome. I loved the fact he looked like Graviton. I really want to see a Graviton vs Magneto battle someday.

I will say though, Quake's powers sure seem to solve all issues.

I like how the writers did a lot to tie off as many loose ends as possible too.

When the finale was over, I didn't know that season six was even up in the air. But I was like.....this sure feels like a series finale. So I read up on the latest to see what was going on. I'm mixed on if the show should come back. I know it gets 13 episodes next summer, and damn, this show just gets better and better. But that was such a satisfying series finale too...

Fantastic finale... it sure was a fitting end had the series been cancelled.

Now I'm excited for what the direction the show takes us next year! (Hope Coulson survives somehow.)

-C!

INIFINITY WAR ties in...half of them disappear.

Those remaining end up working together at a med school.

Because that's what happens when you've already had a great series finale, but another (short) season is wrung out.

(Looking at you, SCRUBS.)

Please put in a spoilers line if you're giving away spoilers about some other property (such as Avengers IW or Deadpool 2.) I'm avoiding that topic for just such a reason. Thanks.
