Here's the news:

I can't say I was a fan of his particular brand of comedy (I did see one show), but there's no denying that, to some comedy fans, he was a national treasure.

I wasn't a huge fan of Doddy, but he was one of those type of enduring British entertainers who was always just 'there' like Bruce Forsyth or Jimmy Tarbuck. He was a fantastic singer though, terrific voice surprisingly. They don't make them like him anymore.
RIP

The man was a comedy machine, famous for his stand-up shows over-running, often going on well past midnight.

Tatty-bye Doddy!

I mostly remember his appearance in a Sylvester McCoy Dr. Who, and seen some of his vinyl records in passing.

He was a decent comedian, more of the old music hall
style, he gave value for money! My mom went to see him a
few years ago, she got home at 2am! The car park at The
Civic Centre had to stay open to allow people to
retrieve their cars!
Yes, he was a good singer and had a few hit singles in
the 60`s, apparently he was a good actor too, Kenneth
Brannagh cast him as Yorrick to good reviews.
