I wasn't a huge fan of Doddy, but he was one of those type of enduring British entertainers who was always just 'there' like Bruce Forsyth or Jimmy Tarbuck. He was a fantastic singer though, terrific voice surprisingly. They don't make them like him anymore.
He was a decent comedian, more of the old music hall style, he gave value for money! My mom went to see him a few years ago, she got home at 2am! The car park at The Civic Centre had to stay open to allow people to retrieve their cars! Yes, he was a good singer and had a few hit singles in the 60`s, apparently he was a good actor too, Kenneth Brannagh cast him as Yorrick to good reviews.
