"Krull  by James Horner. I love the opening title & the "Ride of the Firemares"."

Okay, I spent time thinking about how I was going to answer before opening this up. Krull is what I landed on. I was shocked to see someone else hit it first!

My reasoning came down to the point I wanted to pick something that I have listened to alone more than I have seen the film.  I believe this soundtrack hits that number.

Currently:

Stu Phillips' original Battlestar Galactica [1978].  Pretty amazing score for what was "only" a TV show, and holds up remarkably well with other proper film scores of the late-'70s period.  And of course, the nostalgia factor alone is enough to keep me listening, every few years, for the rest of my life!

Even if you hate the show, how can this not get your blood pumping?

Just caught a 40th Anniversary showing yesterday, and if I had any doubts, hearing the score for SUPERMAN: THE MOVIE in the theater solidified its top spot, for me.

The opening titles for Superman: The Movie was so thrilling as a child. That piece of music is perfectly crafted for its purpose and the finale with all the thunderous brass counterpoint is an awesome thing to hear.

Movie soundtrack would be hard to do a top 5 or top 10 list, nevermind picking just one.

However, game I can do quite easily.

The only game I own the OST for is XENOSAGA. Some of the FINAL FANTASY games have had individual songs I liked, but XENOSAGA had a solid soundtrack all the way through.

Jerry Goldsmith's STAR TREK: INSURRECTION [1998]

Painfully mediocre STAR TREK movie, but gets my vote as Goldsmith's 2nd-greatest TREK score, after THE MOTION PICTURE... which was another not-great film!

One of the frustrating ironies that Jerry Goldsmith got saddled with mostly sub-par TREK entries (TMP, THE FINAL FRONTIER, INSURRECTION, NEMESIS), but with the noted exception of FIRST CONTACT.

Right Now? Listening to Clapton play
soulfully on the RUSH soundtrack.
