Baseball player Eddie Murray

===========================

Michael,

Growing up in Baltimore and living in the area all my life, Eddie Murray was my all-time. Going to O's games from the mid 70's until 1984 was some of the best times of my life. Met him a few times at events around town during those times. I never thought that there will be another athlete that would supplant him.

Until another Ed came along.

Now Mr. Murray has been replaced by Ed Reed. Watching Reed on the field was a joy to behold. Dude was great.

I am going to do my best to attend his (hopefully) Canton enshrinement next year.

Pete Maravich. Saw the end of his career but read all the biographies and watched many of the games. His ball-handling drills, and the way he played, really changed the game. Fascinating life.

Jackie Robinson. Mostly I like sports because they are fun entertainment and an escape from the issues of real life. But sometimes something sports-related happens that has a huge positive impact on society. Robinson broke barriers, and he was the perfect person to do so.

Walter Payton. The man could do it all on a football field, and it was a privilege to be able to watch him on Sundays.
