Why not just call him Richard from now on?  No name change, no Dick.

If they went back and altered ROBOCOP to rename Dick Jones into Rick Jones, does that mean RoboCop exists in the MCU, and can therefore join the Avengers?

And why isn’t the “k” good enough for Nightwing? Is he a Ric Flair fan, or something? Wouldn’t a nice, hard “k” be helpful in warding off those accusations from the Werthamites that he’s the Godd***, dick-hangin’ Batman’s youthful lover?

Because “no Dick” is all speculation/hype. It’s just an amnesia storyline.

"Trevor - Richard Rider is a great super hero name. I'm
sure that the original Nova agrees with you."

**

Huh - I had no idea! Thanks for the info, Eric!

Surely. As a tangent, I rather thought that Nova was Marvel's attempt to catch lightning in a bottle again as they had with Spider-Man. Teen  ager gets super powers... alliterative name... has to hide his abilities... problems with the police...

I understand that might describe a lot of heroes, but Nova always seemed to me to be the try at Spider-Man the second.

It wasn’t so much an attempt to “catch lightning in a bottle” as it was Marv Wolfman wanting to build a character on the Spider-Man model — just for fun!

I read the issue.  Looks like a temporary  name change as part of the brain damaged storyline and will no doubt end when the storyline does. Other characters are still calling him "Dick". Though not only is he not Dick, he's also not Nightwing. Another character has taken the name and costume to protect Bludhaven. So I've a feeling Grayson will eventually reclaim both names,as is par for the  course in these plotlines. Fakewing will no doubt screw up in someway. He's half way there since he's sporting a handgun.

I agree with Mike. This is temporary. Admittedly, like Mitch, I'd have no problem with "Dick Grayson" becoming "Richard Grayson" permanently, as I know of no real person living in the 21st century named Richard who goes by "Dick."

(I do know one Michael who, for reasons unclear to me, really hates being called "Mike.")

I don’t like being called Mike because it’s not my name.

As you might have guessed, I prefer "Mike" over "Michael". Only a handful of people get away with calling me "Michael". One is my mother.

Ha. My mother is the only one can get away with calling me “Mike”.
