In approximate order: editor, writer, penciler, letterer, inker, colorist. Six chances to muck it up.

The editor actually gets multiple chances to mess things up—and that’s not even counting the times editors change in mid-stream. I knew one writer who was three issues into a four part story when the editor got switched and the new one wanted a different ending!

Those What The...?! comics are a bit hard to find. I've only gotten four (1,2,7,8). I enjoy the corner box art a lot on those! I wish I'd kept that one Crazy with the Ecchs Men cover... :^(

I also wish I had've written a letter to Obnoxio for some kind of abusive response that was promised, but then I also daydreamed (way too much) of an act I could get gonged on the Chuck Barris Gong Show with. Two heavy regrets about not accomplishing both those.

Crazy had some very strange contents like old Steve Ditko monster comics with new word balloons, but usually the highlights were Teen Hulk with Marie Severin art and Mary Wilshire's Fantasy Vs. Reality page. Mike Carlin's page was never as funny as he probably thought it was. :^)

(And who is that between Ben and Reed?)

I think Namor.

The Pulverizer (Punisher) was in that issue, so I'm going with him.

I remember seeing photo-stats? Copies? of Kirby's FF pencils with full word balloons. I thought, "why wouldn't Joe Sinnott ink the art first?" I assume it was lettered first so Sinnott (and others) had less to ink making the turn around faster.

Traditional lettering was on the page before the inks.

Tiny technical note: I expected my signature to be colored on that second cover. When black lines are shot to negative there’s an optical illusion that makes them seem thicker, almost bloated, and I wanted my name to be more subtle than that.

(DC managed to screw up what was intended as a poignant scene in GENERATIONS when some genius decided the black holding lines on two ghosts should be white, and the bloating effect completely obscured their facial expressions.)

that 203 cover is a beauty! I love how you can pick up the entire figure pose with just a few side strips (and just with those strips, you can still tell it's a John Byrne drawing!)

Subjective contour! One of my favorite things picked up at art college. And something which, incidentally, Shooter hated!! Somewhere he’d picked up that silhouette was all important.

(Important, yes, but there can be exceptions.)
