Thought this might be fun to do. What artists will you pick up new comics work by no matter what company/character/comic it is, just simply because you love their art. For instance, I recently picked up some issues of Supergirl despite having zero interest in or knowledge of the character, just because Kevin Maguire was doing the art. (Actually ended up enjoying the story quite a bit too though.) Another example I can think of that's a somewhat recent one is Steve Epting working on Batwoman, although I guess a more timely example would be his upcoming stint on Brian Bendis' Superman book, which I'll purchase despite having zero interest in the run. I just really love his art. And I think we're all chomping at the bit hoping that Marvel publishes X-Men: Elsewhen by our host (although I'm really interested in the story on that one too). Anyway, here's my list and I'm curious if anyone else will pick up new comics based on the art and which artists they are. I guess this could also apply to things like Omnibuses and trade paperbacks collecting older material, but I'm trying to keep my list to artists who are alive and still producing work. If you aren't interested in or no longer buy new comics, feel free to list the artists who are no longer working (or even alive) whose Omnibuses/Artists Editions/collections you would definitely get when they are released.

1) John Byrne
2) George Perez
3) Alan Davis
4) Kevin Maguire
5) Steve Epting
6) Frank Cho
7) J.H. Williams III
8) Gary Frank
9) John Paul Leon
10) Mike Mignola

The "British" B's = Byrne Bolton and Bolland....Sienkiewicz, George Perez, Paul Gulacy, Art Adams, Alan Davis also relative newcomers like Mayhew and Bisley. It's not that buy everything they do or did but if they did it my chances of buying get much higher.

I forgot some more = Adi granov and Esad Ribic...I am aware that most of my favourites are semi retired or retired or mostly no longer active in comic books. it's sad.

George Perez, Alan Davis, John Byrne, Ron Frenz, Walter Simonson.

It's not every title they do, but they make me lean towards buying it simply because they're involved.

Before I answer the question, I need to know if this counts as “John Byrne Art”...

Art Adams, Brian Bolland, John Byrne, Alan Davis, Dave Gibbons, Paul Gulacy, George Perez, JR Jr., and Walt Simonson.

I have a much larger group of artists in my head whose work I like, kind of milling around in the lobby at the bottom of the stairs: Frank Miller, Michael Golden, Pat Broderick, Keith Giffen, Mike Allred, Jerry Ordway, Ron Frenz, Adam Hughes, Frank Cho, John Cassaday, Frank Quitely, Gary Frank, Adi Granov, Amanda Conner, Phil Jimenez, Stuart Immonen, and probably a bunch of others I can't recall at the moment, but only the gentlemen above can make me consider buying a book just to see their art.

No one. I obviously like their art, but I also have to
like the subject.

But the more I like the art, the more likely I will pick
something up I wouldn't have before.
