Never thought I'd say this.... I miss Ben Affleck's Batman.

It's been pointed out that the wings of the Bat symbol look like the halves of a a pistol sawed cross-wise.

I did get a chuckle from the new overlaying Michael Giacchino theme music over the costume preview... all I could hear in my head were the words, "It's... the Batman, it's... the Batman, it's... the BATMAN!"

(Or, substitute "it's" with "I'm.")

How much more grim, gritty, greasy, dark, dank, dour, depressing, violent, brutal, nasty, humorless, murky, exhausting and all-around unpleasant & kid-unfriendly could they possibly go after the Nolan and Snyder films??

Apparently, this much.  Was holding out hope for a new, slightly more positive direction... nevermind.  Nothing I see here appeals to me in the least.

That new My Chemical Romance music video looks pretty cool.

Nothing says "positive direction" more than a Nirvana soundtrack! XD

Bone-crunching punches, just like the Arkham games! I like playing it, will have to see if I like watching it.

Is that supposed to be he Riddler? It looks like "takes" on Batman and his villains is just going to be a thing from now on.

Is Batman "vengeance" or " justice"?  Key difference.  That delineation separated Batman from the Punisher years ago.

As to the trailer, I thought it was excellent at selling a new Batman but I'm not sure it's a Batman I want to see.  Personally, I tire of the focus being on who he is rather than what he does.  Introspection for introspection's sake rather than a fulfilling narrative in its own right.  This iteration of Bruce Wayne, which has been around for decades now, must be exhausting.  There's a palpable feeling of joyless work to be the Caped Crusader and a constant exploration of his id that feels tiresome to me.  It's that continuation down that path that has distanced me from DC comic related product for years: a constant inward exploration of why Bruce Wayne is who he is that, quite frankly, I don't give two shits about.  That first page of his origin story that we all know by heart is all I need to know.  The tortured man-child motif does nothing for me and is, in fact, a turn off.

Pattinson seems a fine choice for the character.  It's the shit that they surround him with that feels suspect to me.

Couldn't help but notice that they're using the same typography font as JOKER. Also, there's some sort of "Joker Gang" in there.

Hrrmmm...

Yawn.....

And a quick look around the web confirms that this grim, gritty relentlessly dark and angry take on Batman is what makes the average fanboy pitch his tent.

It’s so OBVIOUS that this take is aimed at that guy (specifically MALE) who knows ‘Batman‘ but doesn’t want to associate himself with ‘comics’.  This is the kind of Batman girls won’t laugh at you over!   Or so they believe.

Like i said.

Yawn.

THE BATMAN imitates the comics, which have been imitating Hollywood movies. Thus competing a most virtuous circle.
