The comics do indeed lead the movies. Which is why I and (some) others have been so critical of Marvel and DC over the decades.

Critical of what though?  Stories you, personally, didn't like but that others obviously did?

Me, I like some and I don't like others. I used to say on this board, a longtime ago, that you just didn't "get" the heroes if you didn't read them exactly the way that I did.  But that time is long since passed.  I actually may be the one who is ancient and out of touch.  They may not be for me, which is kinda sad but also a natural part of growth and evolution.

I haven't read a new mainstream superhero comic in over a decade.  We both left each other for various reasons, but I can't fault either one of us about how we feel.  They're not for me and probably shouldn't be trying to aim their audience at the 50+ crowd. I get it and I eventually accepted it.  It's a genre I held onto for far too long that never grew with me (which is fine if I'm willing to accept that) and doesn't reciprocate my love for it at all.

Saw the new Batman trailer and wasn't moved much. I'm just not very jazzed about yet another iteration of this character after so many so quickly.

Watching the trailer wasn't exciting for me... seems WB has lost all sense of creativity with Batman and would rather stick to the 'safety net' of the gritty "realism" that Nolan brought to the franchise.

In other news... LINK

This is part of our new world of shooting features films during the pandemic... very sad.

"Robert Pattinson is said to have tested positive for the coronavirus, causing filming of The Batman to be halted just days after the superhero drama resumed work at studios outside of London."

I'm not seeing much Nolan in there personally.

Actually the trailer reminds me of Snyder's Batman scenes a lot more than to the Nolan version. Remember the "bat-branding" stuff and serial killer-y general vibe and palette? Also, on the nose "edgy" track.

Too little to judge yet anyway. And Reeves is a lot better than Snyder (almost any human being with a camera is) so it probably won't be as bad.

Hmm, I'm interested enough to give it a try.

Visually I think Robert Pattinson would make a better Azrael but I'm excited to
see how he does in this movie

I do like the title sequence, almost vampiric. Interesting.
