The art is hitting a crescendo! Gorgeous. And the intertwining stories are flowing so beautifully. You must be in a good place all around. Bravo.

"Green Genes"!
Like Mister Green Jeans on Captain Kangaroo?

Thor says: "Verily, thou art a whimsical bard, John Byrne."

I really like when Cyclops' uniform is flat black.  I mean, I get that there are no highlights without light, but it's just so cool.

That's applying logic which I wouldn't have considered. Cyclops' uniform is flat black because between floors there's no light to cause highlights. Perfect!

That's just beautiful. Interesting that A) she dove so deep that Scott nearly ran out of breath, and B) she DIDN'T run out of breath. One wonders how someone with SCUBA gear (e.g., Stingray) would do with Sprite.

Wow, is "Sprite" a better sobriquet than "Shadowcat"!

Today's page, with Cyclops in action against the D'Bari makes me think again about a topic to be dealt with in a new subject - "Who could support a solo title?" I have never doubted that Cyclops would be a hit on his own. Between backstory, Jean, and his tremendous experience, I'd buy the hell out of that book.

Written and drawn by Mr. Byrne, of course.

Same here. It's one reason why I like the original X-Men uniforms.

Speaking of which...

There is a Green Lantern tale JB drew a while back, and it is colored so that the black parts of Hal's uniform are filled in sans highlights. I liked that, too.

Oh, and there are those nifty Doom Patrol uniforms JB gave the team that had solid black...

From the moment I saw it, I thought “Shadowcat” would be a better name for Nightcrawler.

And, of course, it’s pure coincidence that Kitty’s adoption of that name came around the same time as the publication of Heinlein’s THE CAT WHO WALKED THROUGH WALLS.

Wow, great page. The last panel especially gives me a strong Jack Kirby vibe.

Solid black costume elements tend very often to fall victim to deadline pressures. This is how Batman’s cape turned blue.

Hmmm... never really gave much thought to it before, but if Kitty were to train herself in freediving techniques, she could probably take out most people (humans, anyway) by dragging them into solid objects, and outlasting them when they passed out.

Or worse if she were to let go, but of course she'd never do that.

These daily instalments are really hitting the stride of
'end the page on a cliffhanger'.

Who? What? How?

And I'll add my voice to the flat black costumes. JB and
JRJR are the masters of this - JRJR's Spidey in his run
with JMS was incredible.

How Kitty's power is SUPPOSED to work, which is how I am
playing it in ELSEWHEN:
---------------------------------------------
That's how I always thought Kitty's power worked.

She flows among the atoms, so if she let go of you, you and
the thing you were flow walking through became
indistinguishable.

How did writers think she pushed atoms out of the way?
