Not much activity in the Forum today. Even our own “usual gang of idiots” seem absent.

Something going on out in the real world of which I am not aware?

Oh! What a curse it would be, to be omniscient.

I have checked in to read posts as is my mostly daily ritual,  particularly in the Fan Fic area, but haven't really had much to contribute to the conversations at present.

I read far more than I post these days, but I did set up a new account to shunt funds into so I can purchase an Elsewhen page! All that Alpha Flight talk was gnawing at me.

I'm surprised no one is talking about how Marvel just undid one of the most controversial and worst Spider-Man stories published over the last 30 years.

Looked it up. Now my head hurts again.

Why people don't buy comic books anymore remains one of the greatest mysteries.

(Believe it or not the whole thing is even more convoluted and ridiculous than this selected excerpt, it was hard to choose)

!!! SPOILERS !!!

So stop reading if you don't want some of the reasons why something that had supposedly happened before now canonically didn't happen spoiled, or something.

Is revealing that something didn't happen technically a reveal? Anyways, you were warned fellas.

Rodrigo, that issue just came out today.  I don't know how many people here are actually reading the book these days, but maybe opt for a link instead?

I agree with you Rodrigo. This is why I think that Marvel should have just simply retconned, ignored, and never ever reference this story (and any other story that they want to make non cannon) without any in story/in continuity explanation. I would even go a step further and have Marvel come right out and tell fans that from here on out they will choose to retcon/make non cannon and ignore any past stories (no matter how popular or unpopular said stories are) that have either damaged the characters or no longer work due to being dated via being linked to a specific time period. They could/should also tell any anal retentive adult fans and pros who insist that all past stories should matter to move on and find comics that appeal to their anal retentive tastes.

The last two comic book questions I posted went unanswered.

It is impossible in the present environment to “just not mention” bad stories or characters, or even ideas that just don’t work any more. Too many anal retentive fanboys with their sticky hands on the tiller.

That's pretty much what they do.  It's just that different creative teams have different ideas of what they wish to ignore or embrace.
