There've been two movie adaptations, neither of them very good -- one was a TV movie that moved the setting to California.  People talk regularly about doing another.

The Giordano GN suffers in part because he overly references Holdaway art (he's a big fan) in the first part and had Dan Spiegle pencil the latter part, so there's a bit of a clash.

As you can see from my avatar, I'm a big fan of Modesty. When I was a teenager I came across a couple of the novels my father and uncle had and was hooked.

Just recently I was able to track down the last novel (Pieces of Modesty) to complete my collection. I never tire of reading the stories, or the strips. Titan has been reprinting all of them on order, and the format is fantastic.

Holdaway and Romero just have different styles of drawing. I like them both for different reasons.

Not better, just had longer to work on the character and develop his strengths. If Holdaway had had the same chance, well, he didn't. He was one of the greats though.

The first Modesty Blaise novel is 99p in Waterstones 'Try Me' range for those Brits who want a bit of it.

I paid a lot more than 99p for it.  Mine was $14.99.  Thugh I paid $11.  I think It was a british printing because it had the price in pounds first.

The collection of strips I got had some art by the Dan Dare creator for his tryout for the Modesty Blaise strip it went to Holdaway instead.  It was really good and makes me wonder what would have happened if he had started the series instead.

Well both tthe comics and novels will be likely printed in Britainm as it's a very British sort of thing. I underline that it's the first novel that is 99p in Waterstones, not the first collection.
