Mike Parobeck drew some nice stuff.  I recall enjoying his work on THE FLY.

Discovered his work a couple of years ago on BATMAN ADVENTURES. Loved it. 31 is just way too young.

Clean, simple, clear and powerful.  I always enjoyed his work, and wish we'd had the opportunity to see more.  Sad that we lost him so young.

I loved his work.  I was looking forward to seeing more of it for decades to come.

A reminder to all of us to take care of ourselves.

I loved his work on just about anything he did. There was so much joy and fun in the way he did super-heroes.

Chuck, I'm not knocking the artwork on JSA. As I stated, I did like Mr. Parobeck's art, in general. I'm taking exception with the way the JSA was characterized by the writing. Almost every issue (and I bought them all, regardless of my disagreement with the tone of the book) seemed to feature one or more of the JSA members bemoaning their age and uncertain of their place in the world. I found that particularly distasteful.  I think that this kind of attitude towards the characters, whether it originated from editorial fiat, or the writer's own opinions damaged the characters so profoundly at the time that they were the first ones in the line of fire when the Zero Hour miniseries came along.

I have no doubt that, with a writer like James Robinson or Geoff Johns, who actually takes pains to respect the characters, their histories, and the material,  I would have derived far greater enjoyment from Mike Parobeck's artwork. However, in my eyes, that particular JSA title left a stain on characters that deserved  a far better fate than wholesale slaughter.

I loved his art on JSA and was very sad to hear of his death.

I truly admired his work on JSA and likened him to BYRNE in how simple and powerful his story telling was.

WOW -- I'm still blown away by his passing.

One of the comments above mentioned that, had he lived, Mike would have become one of the greats.  I truly believe this.  His style was raw and ready to tackle new challenges.  I think he would have been doing some truly amazing work, today, ten years later.

Rest in Peace, Mike.  For some your legacy will live forever in the work and memories you left us.

I thought he was a terrific talent.  I loved everything he did.  He really captured the true joy of being a superhero as well as the innocence.  It was a sad day when I heard of his passing made no less sad by the passage of time.

That X-men: The Early Years cover with The Vanisher was my very first piece of professional work. I've tried to locate the original for, literally, years.

Great artist and a nice guy, I'll always feel a connection to Mike's work because, for the briefest of times (my first two pieces of cover work), our careers crossed paths.
