True. The traditional Human Torch detail flame works in the 2D plane of a drawing. These look like red and yellow icicles or crystal formations.

Just sculpt a fireproof Johnny Storm figure with tiny holes in it for a practical firebar, which will use live flame to simulate the Torch's powers!

Then I see the rise in accidental fires at home. That just sounds too dangerous to get the flame to look just right on statues.
