You were right the first time - it's a reflection of a picture that's on the wall above the model. It's just a coincidence that it looks the same. Here's another look at it - this time you can see the picture rail and the edge of a picture above my desk.

Ten inches. It's thirteen inches nose to tail without the nosecone, fifteen with it. Since I took the pictures I've discovered additional landing gear in the main body and rear lifting-body.

I really must get my Fireball XL5 out of storage sometime. And get myself a nice Thunderbird 2. And Stingray. And a Spectrum Pursuit Vehicle. And...

It's a good job I've got a busy summer in Rio on the Olympics, this could get expensive!

I'm a video engineer in conferences and events. I do a bit of camera work, screen-switching, VT playback but probably do more projection than anything else. I'm part of the projection team for the ceremonies in Rio. We're doing the opening and closing plus the opening of the Paralympics.

This was a job from a couple of years ago that I enjoyed working on. Someone much cleverer than me was in charge of the content but I was one of the team that installed and lined up the 18 projectors used (three on each chimney, four on each of three bottom sections).  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vB3XSBw7ygw

Ordinarily, I'd post this in the STAR TREK section, but it's not really worth a whole thread.

A few days back, I received the new communicator replica from The Wand Company. Couldn't resist. I've been squirreling away money in anticipation of its release.

This is the Greatest Toy Ever. A virtually-perfect replica of the original hero prop, and it WORKS AS A TWO-WAY COMMUNICATION DEVICE, JUST LIKE ON THE SHOW. You just have to sync it up with a "real" phone via Bluetooth. Considering that the inaccurate, non-functional Master Replicas prop went for double the price, a decade ago, this amazing little device is an absolute steal for a devoted TREK fan. LOVE IT.

It's been nearly a week, and I still feel that sense of electricity as I both receive (via hailing beep!) and make (via voice command) phone calls, Kirk-style. Between this and the NASM's restoration of the Enterprise model, I can't decide which is a better 50th anniversary present.

Overview:

In-depth review:

And these arrived late last week:

Nope. Hedorah is not sorry at all.

Size comparision, since these are very small:

The Doctors are in..;) Finally.

Today I bought the Second Doctor (Patrick Troughton,) completing the collection of all the Doctors in the Doctor Who figurine collection. Not the best quality photos, (my ancient phone is fairly lousy for this sort of thing,) but it's good to be able to finally show them all together.

And yes, that is a K9 in the pics. As I had a keyring that was very close to the scale of the figurines, so I figured hey why not?

While I was in Tokyo, paid a visit to the Bandai / Tamashi Nation Toy Showroom, which is located in the East-West Passage right near the JR Akihabara Station "Electric Town" Exit (South side):

One half was devoted to the ONE PIECE: GOLD movie figures, but other half (right side) had many items on display.
