I didn't think this warranted its own topic so I hope it's right to include it here. Via Twitter, I have come across the worst RoboCop bootleg toy ever:

Robert Cop?

"I'll be back."

The furniture of law enforcement?

I've seen some bad bootlegs in my time, but that one takes the biscuit. Robert Cop is bad enough, but including a Terminator catchphrase in there and and describing it as the 'furniture of law enforcement' is bizarre.

A new addition to my man cave thanks to a person I've respected for years. This shogun warrior (not this exact one)was a toy I spent many great hours playing with!

That's a beaut, Bill! I had a few of the Warriors, but not this one.

Meh. Mine's better and more accurate.

The biggest problem is that they've stuck the TOS dish on the front of the secondary hull, which is very clearly not what was intended, based on available reference materials.

A major problem with 99% of fanmade PHASE II renderings and models is that they tend to use elements of either the TMP or TOS designs to fill in certain gaps in data. In fact, there's enough material floating around out there to create a very good approximation of what the PHASE II model would have looked like. David Shaw did it first, and I followed in his footsteps, with a few minor tweaks.

That all being said, I do look forward to seeing how the final product turns out. I'm often tempted to pick up these Eaglemoss models, but, since I build my own models, why bother? I'm just glad they've published the "making of" portions of the magazines in hardcover. I picked up DESIGNING STARSHIPS Vol. 1, recently, and it's a lovely book.

The Eaglemoss version is certainly eye-catching... I like it!

Why couldn't THAT have been the "new" Enterprise of the J.J. universe?

I’ll be buying that, despite what Greg says. I’ve really enjoyed the Eaglemoss stuff and wish they could get their hands on Star Wars

+++++++

I should point out that I'm not bashing it, just nitpicking. If I didn't already have my own model, I'd be all over this one. The Eaglemoss stuff is quite lovely, overall.

Not sure if I'll be picking up Phase II, since I've already have the TOS, the ISS, the Refit, and 1701-A thru E, plus the large size TOS Eaglemoss version, which pretty much covers the canon Star Trek stuff for me.

I'm already in deep enough with the Yamato 2202 series as it is, especially since they've restarted the Mecha Collection mini-kits for 2202...

JB, would this be of any interest to you? i know you have an amazing Thunderbird 2 but wondered whether the extras in this would make it of interest.

DeAgostini are releasing a 144:1 scale Thunderbird 2 build that also includes the vehicles/equipment from the pods

Genuine offer - if you would like it, I am happy to be your gopher for it
