"Return to Krypton" is one of the great Superman stories. Especially
because it was a "book length novel", rare in those days.

(When I was working on Superman DC decided to put together a "greatest
stories" anthology, on which I was invited to serve as one of the editors. A
unanimous choice for inclusion in the volume was this story. Unfortunately,
none of us realized the title had be used twice. . . )

I loved his distinctive portrayal of Supes flying, with the bent leg <g>.

I object, I don't think Wayne is boring at all.

Er, maybe I better go read this thread from the begining...

Return to Krypton is one of the most tense comic stories I´ve ever read.  Made me realize why Superman was so successful in "his day".

I'm always torn between Swan and Boring as the best Superman artist. I felt Swan's Superman seemed more complicated emotionally (The way Swan drew people they seemed to have a greater "acting" range than Boring's people) but Boring's settings, the "set designs" and "production design" of the alien cities and peoples always seemed more interesting than Swan's.

Luckily, with the continued publication of Showcase volumes we don't have to choose - We can have them all! (Bwah-ha-ha, um, ok. Relax)

The transition from Wayne Boring to Curt Swan as the primary Superman artist has got to be one of the greatest legacies in comics history.

SER: I love when people make my points for me -- and more insightfully.

Couldn't agree more.
