Just picked up Modern Masters #6 Arthur Adams, and as i flipped through it, i was blow away! I realived i pretty much had most of his stuff, but seeing it all together just seems so much more amazing. I only wished he turned out more work. The cover recreations near the end where worth the $15 alone. Guy is just unreal. Guys, got any comments or recollections on Art's work?

The Art Adams run on Fantastic Four (as gimmicky as it was) brought me back into comics briefly. I even had a mail-order subscription to FF. (can you even do that any more?).

The last great character of comics could have been his Longshot. But the regular series never showed up, and then the painted graphic novel (IIRC) never showed up, so he ended up a fifth-wheel character in X-Men that nobody cared about.

It's difficult to be a devoted Art fan when he produces so very little. I wish
he'd at least do a pet project like Monkeyman or some such, so we'd at least
see a few issues a year.

Yeah, I admire his work...and like to look at it when it comes out. But I wouldn't consider myself a fan bc his stuff comes out so sporadically.

Art Adams draws one of the Best Batman. The page he did
for Batman #400 is very good.

I really like Arthur's work. I took to it immediately when I first saw it in
the New Mutants Special Edition.
What amazes me most is that how much better he got later on.
He has done away with so much detail and really streamlined his work.
His visual storytelling was not really existent in the early days, now it is
just great. Probably second to John Romita Jr. and tied with Paul Smith.
Not a bad writer either. I dug his Monkeyman and Obrien. Really fun
material.
Fun and whimsical. He is the antithesis of the "dark/crass" artist. All
around I really like his work.

Jozef, you can still purchase mail-order subscriptions directly from Marvel. Not sure about DC.
When I was a kid, I love Art's LONGSHOT book. It was always a treat to see his art in an X-MEN or NEW MUTANTS special.

Art Adams just keeps getting better an better - I too found those recreations/reinterpretations in the Modern Masters volume awesome. Too bad, he's also doing fewer and fewer comics - I don't recall any interior work since Jonni Future.

Is Adams a Modern Master? Like Simonson or Garcia-Lopez or JRjr.? I didn't order this one because I'm not familiar with his output. I recall the X-Men Asgard story and Monkeyman and O'Brien, and that's it. I know there's more, but really, a Modern Master?

Pedro, Art Adams has been doing back-ups in Hulk recently.
Jeremiah, Art Adams had a huge impact artistically, even if his output was (and remains) small. Tons of artists are influenced by his fine line cartoony style. Though I will say that the "Modern Masters" line of books by Twomorrows does stretch the definition of Master by a bit.

OK Peter. I've enjoyed all the issues I've ordered, but I was reluctant on this one. If Twomorrows gives us a Dave Gibbons Modern Masters, then I'll buy the Arthur Adams one. ;)
(seriously, no denying the guy's talent)
