I'm half way through WAR AND PEACE now. Great book and great translation that I mentioned on the previous page. Tolstoy is so insightful with how he writes. Amazing book. Long, but I've been enthralled the whole time.

Mrs Frisby and the Rats of NIMH by Robert C O'Brien. It's a children's book, so it's not a challenging read in any way, but a nice pleasant one, and has some nice elements of mystery with well-paced reveals.

Another great one by Tolstoy, which you can read in one sitting is THE DEATH OF IVAN ILYICH.
I´ve floundered twice on War and Peace, though...

Finishing Micro by Michael Crichton and a co-author (out from the library). That Animal House book looks good! I wonder if it's on the Kindle, I'll have to check tonight.

I had that problem with Anna Karenina at first, but found a great translation team of Richard Pevear and Larissa Volokhonsky and that made all the difference. They're a husband and wife team that has done some great work translating the Russian Classics to English. So if you read any of those books in English, try their translations.

Parallel Worlds by Michio Kaku A book about the origins of the universe and the multiverse and the origins of our understanding of the universe. I'm about halfway through and I think I almost understand some of it... (that's a joke, I know now how little I actually understand, but at least now I think I can follow the train of thought rather than gaping in awe as it thunders past). Michio Kaku explains things really well and writes in an entertaining enough fashion that the only reason I put it down is so that I can think through the ramifications and possibilities of what he's saying (also so I can review it in my mind to make sure I'm kind of understanding instead of just reading the words).

Parallel Worlds by Michio Kaku *** Excellent, excellent book! Kaku's other book, Hyperspace is also great. I'd recommend them to anyone who wants to learn more about physics.
