I was hoping the Brass Bishop would make an appearance someday, either as a character or item, but only in the hands of JB.

...a tale that would never be told... But...doesn't everything in a character's past have to be shown? Who wants mystery...or to use their imagination? Show us...everything!!

Let's just call him Bishop, Brass/Bronze?!? On a side note, the very way JB wrote those issues of AF was unique, at least to the times, in that it had a Justice League of America feel to it. Like in the old JLA days, you would know who was in the book by the Roll Call. Not every member of the JLA had to star in every tale, same feel with early Alpha Flight. Almost a year of solo or team up stories (Sasquatch and Aurora/ Puck solo / Snowbird solo / Northstar and Aurora) and then something big would unite the team. Not sure any team book takes that approach. It seemed natural to me and fun. Still a team book, but come on, these heroes have lives, they aren't always hanging together!

The JLA and AVENGERS books were much more my model for AF than, say, X-MEN or FANTASTIC FOUR. I wanted to treat the book as if it was where the team members got together, while also having their own titles (that we just didn't happen to see). Thus, we could imagine that there was a Guardian book, a Shaman book, a Northstar & Aurora book, and so on.

I just finished reading Essential X-Men Volume 2 again, which contains the Dark Phoenix saga. I was struck by the difference between the stuff co-plotted by JB, and X-Men Annual #4 ("Nightcrawler's Inferno") which was only credited to Claremont. It had an entirely different feel.

JB, I like the fact that you had Judd and Wolverine mention a near meeting in the past, but DIDN'T elaborate on it.

Kind of my revolt against the way many writers seem to like shoring up the credibility of their characters by hijacking the backstory of other. Sufficient to say Judd and Logan had MET, without turning it into anything more than that.

I loved the hell out of this character during JBs run. Alpha Flight was such an interesting collection of oddballs that I'll always wish it could've run a few years more with JB on the title.
And Puck was my favorite of the bunch, though Sasquatch was the best visually. As I recall Puck was new to the team as of the first issue, and even though the group only had a handful of appearances prior, I liked Puck as an "entry point" character.
I remember being particularly fascinated with the issue built around his hospital stay. Not only was it rare to see a hero hospitalized for any period of time, but it was probably the first time I'd seen a superhero in a story that was more suspense than supervillain-centric.

Thus, we could imagine that there was a Guardian book, a Shaman book, a Northstar & Aurora book, and so on. That is exactly how it felt! They may not have their own books, but you were actually reading their own books, in the AF book. Too bad this isn't carried out in other creators team books. You can't tell me all the New Avengers are always together, or the New Avengers or Secret or whatever they are calling themselves this week, until the next reboot or event where we start numbering them from one again with new names. Sorry, I digress.....

Random: Did Puck ever meet Ben Grimm? They're roughnecks of a somewhat similar stripe and I could see them being poker buddies.
