Fred C. - He's already a national joke, and an outcast with a lot of the population. The only difference is that now he's the POTUS (and thereby FAR more dangerous.)

Neil L. - I wonder about his presence on Fox News. I don't know how they treat him because I do not watch Fox News (thank Odin) but I wonder if they solicit his appearances or if he just barges in with his phone calls. Considering some of the anti-Trump polls and occasional treatment... they may not want to know from President Murder.

Ms. Jansen - "You don't fight stupid with stupid." But sometimes it's the only weapon one has (president POTUS included!) We need to outsmart him (which shouldn't all that hard...) And I hope that you'll be sticking around and commenting every now and again. Your POV is very intriguing sometimes.

James W. - "I think what will be interesting will be how much backing
the GOP will give to Trump and his crazy claims, now that
he will be out." One would hope... and yet, it seems at this moment that the Senate will remain in Republican control and that fuck face death master Mitch McConnell will remain stalling and stomping out every democratic bill he can.

JW again - "Steve Bannon has called for the beheading of Fauci." There's an easy answer for this. Bannon is bat-shit insane. He's a sociopath. He doesn't know the between right and wrong. That's not hyperbole; Bannon thinks it's perfectly acceptable to build a guillotine and put Fauci under the blade. Trump is also insane, but he's POTUS; we can't challenge him and make it effective.

Mr. Byrne, I've called the United States a democratic republic - I hope that's appropriate to your description. Of course, I've also called the USA a plutocratic oligarchy, so maybe I'm not very consistent.

I'm not an especially smart man, but even so, I can't imagine how anyone who wasn't a Trump sycophant voting for him again. If you got these people and asked them, "So you support the corona virus? You support hunting down blacks? Support separating babies from their parents? Support climate change?", they'd probably deny it. But they may not be smart enough to understand things that aren't force fed to them by the biggest mouths on the air and in the papers. Trump screams loudest and longest, and they may not find anything reasonable and rational to comprehend; their ears and eyes are full of insane bullshit.

I'm not worried about any "legacy" Trump may think he has. I think that Don Jr. and Eric and Ivanka are SO repulsive that even stupid Americans wouldn't vote for them. And I believe Ivanka and Jared will be divorced within six months of their father leaving the White House.

And yet again, I confront the fact that I should calm down for now; the voting still isn't done. There's time to panic after that comes. I can even hope that I WON'T have to panic.

But man, the nightmares... the nightmares...

Who would have thought that the President of the USA would be the one to claim that the USA is not a democratic country?

•••

It’s not. It’s a Republic.

——

Which does not preclude the US from being a democratic country. It’s a representative democracy, as opposed to the direct democracy that the Founders were opposed to.

It seems like there will be no singular moment when Biden is declared the winner.  A very few media outlets have done so today based on his ever growing lead in Pennsylvania.   The Secret Service increased his protection level today, and the FAA designated air space over him as restricted.

One of the best things about Trump being out of office is that Twitter will likely shut his account down. A lof of the bs he posts he only gets away with because of his `world leader' status.

So he will have to find a new way to communicate with the peabrained nimrods that adore him.

There was another story the other day - can't remember where - about an armed individual at a voting or vote counting station who was asked to leave, then stupidly came back and was arrested.

Not just Philadelphia.  North of there as well and areas around Pittsburgh.

Something like 130,000-ish votes to be counted.

This is really only going one way in all-important Pennslyvania.

Georgia is ridiculously tight, and Nevada and Arizona are hardly wide margins, but the logic of who did and didn't tend to vote by post suggests Biden can hold the current leads in all of them.

The sooner the likely becomes confirmed as 100%, the better.

Pennsylvania has not been this important to me since.... well, Pennsylvania has
never been this important to me! And I lived in both Bucks County and West
Chestier as a kid.

Looks like Georgia is headed to a senate vote for the two seats in January. What are the chances the Democrats will prevail? I can only imagine the amount of money both parties will be spending for this next vote.

It depends entirely on turnout. Special elections are usual low turnout affairs, and Georgia is still mostly a red state. I think the Democrats best chance lie in the hopes that a lot of the low propensity voters who only showed up for Trump don’t show up in January, while maintaining the same high turnout for Democrats.
