I would love to see Trump resign, fully expecting Pence to pardon him... but then Pence would turn around and have him arrested instead.

So after all this there were still 121 Republicans in congress and 6 in the senate to go along with this objection to the electoral numbers b.s.? As someone once said to Joseph McCarthy... have you (they) no shame? Mitt Romney said it's really very simple, you tell your constituents the truth. And as Trina Robbins once said if you tell the truth you don't have to ever worry really about keeping a story straight! And by the way, I was sooooo thankful Mitt lost (and Big Bird wasn't fired).
I really want to leave this thread... wishful thinking until Trump and his minion pals (and sons) quit manufacturing outrage and promoting violence. Counting the days; 'don't stop thinking about tomorrow'.

Democracy seems very fragile now...
I can't understand how this could happen. Are US gouvernment buildings not protected at all??

What the Right and the "both siders" fail to understand is that the BLM movement and all other civil rights movements are about fighting to become ONE people. Which won't happen while we keep treating black people, women, LGBTQ+ people, and all other minorities as less than.
What happened yesterday is a bunch of people throwing a temper tantrum because their guy lost the election. While waving Confederate and KKK flags, by the way.

The false statement that it was ruined by a few
dickheads.
There were a lot more than a 'few' and to me, it seemed
most of the people outside stayed on site even after
people had broken in - that shows some level of support
for those actions.
America will never be one nation while it has a large
contingent (and it is substantially larger than people
realised I think) who think white males should be the
dominant power.
And by dominant I mean hold sway over anyone who is not
that demographic and sees those others as lesser beings.

All our best thoughts and prayers should be going to the family of US Air-force veteran Ashli Babbit -- who was shot and killed in DC today. Her group was trying to (yes, forcefully) occupy the floor of the capitol building to stage a sit-in. As it turned more violent with police, she reached for her phone to record the violence - and was shot and killed by police.

The video of her shooting is out there. She was not shot while reaching for a phone. She was shot trying to climb through a broken window of a set of doors that were barricaded. I'm the first to say that the police need to learn to deescalate and there are times for civil disobedience, but she was forcing her way into the Capitol while Congress was in session.
