I heard on the radio earlier that the Republicans feel that the best way
to keep him from public office again would be for the Republican Party
to simply turn their backs on him.

They just truly don’t fucking want to get it.

I'm more and more convinced that people involved in his administration and the insurrection must face severe and lasting consequences unless we want more, worse behavior from politicians and their supporters.

Armed Protests Planned at all 50 State Capitols and DC

What could go wrong and will LEO's take these nuts down if they get out of control?

After Jan 6th, I REALLY have doubts about the police enforcing the law.

The term "coupbaya" is floating around Twitter.  That's when you attempt a coup, get caught, then plead for unity.

Even by Florida standards, this is completely fucked up.

I was thinking just the other day that while he may survive the
Presidency due to time, it might be his post presidency
financial/commercial deals that might suffer from all this.

If he can’t get a loan, if he can’t get planning permission, if people
refuse to use his hotels, that will hurt him mightily.

I’m hoping this will be the case

In two years there will be an opportunity to see what lessons were learned from the end of the Trump era...and how the GOP will fare as a result of it.  If the GOP loses more ground in the House and Senate....and the Democrats further cement their control of the legislature...that will be a positive sign.  Two years is a long time and it might be easy for the average voter to forget what hell we are going through now.  ESPECIALLY if Biden/Harris manage things in a calm, efficient fashion.

Will the average Republican voter respond WITHOUT Trump being in the picture?  Will his daughter in law, Laura find support if she runs for office?  Will Democrats get complacent after fighting so hard for the gains of 2020?  We flipped Georgia...but can we keep it?   Can Texas finally be turned?

If the DNC was smart....they would have Stacey Abrams teaching them how to build support and wreck voter suppression throughout every state.

@Micheal R.

Every time I see that story I just cringe.  How impossibly horrible is that?!

If you didn’t think we were dealing with a pack of subhuman monsters before....you should have no fucking doubt after seeing that.

Impeachment proceedings can continue even after he's out of office.  And with the Senate being 50/50 soon, he may not escape this time.

Can someone with a firmer understanding of constitutional law and history please speak to the impeachment and trial of an elected official who is no longer inhabiting the office for which s/he is being impeached?  I don't believe it has ever been done before.

I know that if convicted in the US Senate that the first and automatic punishment incurred is removal from office - well, that becomes moot if the convicted party is no longer IN office. And might that punishment at least imply that impeachment itself is moot once the accused leaves office?

The second punishment that the Senate votes on, obviously, does apply: a prohibition to holding any federal office in future.

Thanks!
Marc
