One of the biggest problems is that many of our authorities and institutions are crippled by Political Correctness.

•••

It may have been Charlton Heston who said Political Correctness is tyranny with manners.

Remember Fox's reporting of Birmingham as no-go zone for non-Muslims? LOL
-----------------------------------------------
Indeed and yet it seems a lot of Americans (and people like Marcio) seem to believe this tripe.

Maybe it would be a good idea to round up all the Muslims here and put them in one place, just to keep an eye on them and find any bad ones. They wouldn't go to jail. They could just live in a camp or camps, then our government could concentrate on finding potential threats. Wait! That's it, we could call the concentration.........

-------------------------------------

I'm just kidding, of course.

When we start doing things like being suspicious of our neighbors because of the way they look, or the religion they practice, when we start denigrating anyone "different" and fear to come out of our homes when we see them, when we are willing to give up our most basic freedoms and want to take the freedoms arbitrarily away from others. It is then that the terrorists win.

Security or freedom. Freedom or security. That's been probably THE big question throughout a lot of human history. I don't think we're able to reconcile the two with the state of humans as it is now.

We all know Ben Franklin's saying about freedom and security, but it's hard to realize how true it is. Anarchy or totalitarianism are the extremes of the philosophy, but how do we find the center? CAN we?

There was no reasonable way to prevent this Manchester tragedy. Sure, add three or four hours for security checks of people coming in, and put up a protective screen or shield for the performers... maybe that works. But it's impractical. Even if it were actionable, what kind of human resources would it require? What kind of costs?

Now change the venue from a music concert to a major league baseball game. Over 4800 chances for some lunatic to do the same thing as happened in Manchester.

Change has to come from inside as well as inside. Mankind has to grow up some before we have security and freedom. Let's hope we haven't driven ourselves extinct before that happens.

<wrong link>

"In an unusual move, the security services revealed that 23,000 potential jihadists are living in Britain. The figure laid bare the difficulties faced by agencies including MI5 and MI6. Questions have been asked over whether more could have been done to stop Abedi from claiming 22 lives at Monday's Ariana Grande concert.

More than 3,000 jihadists are being investigated as 'subjects of interest' – or potential terrorists – stretching the security services to breaking point.

And they are grappling with 500 active terror investigations.

Here's the link to the article I excerpted above:

My deepest apology for accidentally linking to Jihadwatch.org . That's a hateful website, which I don't support.

THIS video is a must watch, it shows Iman Tawhidi from Melborne being honest about the problems with Islam and exposing another interviewed for trying to hyde the truth.
I really wanted to see more men of courage like him, so Islam could move forward to the 21st century.

***

I heard this line rear it's head again this week with a local tweeting the US politician that stated it that he lived in Brum, the nickname for Birmingham, and it was a load of rubbish. The politician tweeted back that that was Brum; he was talking about Birmingham.

I cannot find the source for this story so it may be apocryphal.
