The money goes to victims/families. It doesn't solve the underlying cause of the problems, but if it provides some comfort, then it I can't knock it. More constructive than morons acting on 'kill the infidel' messages. Also, three attacks in four months suggests the 'small minority' is not as small as many want to think it is. Anyone who would move to a country for no purpose other than to kill/disrupt/shit on society, must expect pushback.

Well,if you believe reports attributed to our security services it`s a few thousand on the `watch list` which as a percentage of the Muslim population is still small, but still too many.

I am seeing more and more Facebook posts saying Hitler got it right - lock them all up and gas them all. I find that to be a frightening position to be in. May said yesterday that in addition to the successful attacks, there have also been five further attempted attacks that were prevented. Which I also find frightening. So what do we do? Clearly something more robust is needed, but what is suggested above is not the answer. I think we are going to have to see civil liberties curtailed further, so yes, email, phone and other forms of communication will be monitored more. Initial level of evidence required to act may be reduced, but remember, sometimes, information is not being acted on because they are waiting to see where it leads with regards to the command chain - although I would not be surprised if this changes ofr a while and we start to see a lot more arrests/raids based on lower levels of knowledge. I'm not sure how they will be starting to combat encrypted comms but I'll be surprised if there is not a major effort underway to break these.
What I don't want to see are blanket responses to people groups and an increase of hostility to refugees. We are in a very dangerous place I think, where we run the risk of starting to see different people groups as one, regardless of whether they are involved or not. And that makes us as bad in doctrine as those actually carrying out the acts.

Great Britain and Europe have to keep trying different solution. If they don't work, keep on trying. Because dithering on the moral questions has so far only given cover for the terrorists to infiltrate, recruit and attack.
If hurting a person's feelings is what tips them off into ISIS-land, that dude is f*'d in the head to begin with.

If hurting a person's feelings is what tips them off into ISIS-land, that dude is f*'d in the head to begin with. •• An important point. When people have, from time to time, complained that violence in TV shows, movies, comic books, etc. triggered violent reactions in people out here in the real world, I have argued that no rational person was ever inspired to commit an irrational act by something s/he read or saw in an entertainment medium. When I was in College, the Burt Reynolds movie FUZZ was shown on network TV for the first time. This film had a subplot about teenagers throwing alcohol on street people and setting them on fire. Within days of the broadcast (perhaps even the next day) there was a copycat crime in Boston. When the perpetrators were arrested and tried, the judge presiding blamed the movie. But as I said at the time, the movie only gave those teenagers the method. The twist in their psyches that made them want to commit violence was already there. Bottom line, we cannot ever know what might inspire an individual (or group) to commit acts of terrorism.

We definitely need to throw Political Correctness and fear of causing offence out the window.I am of Irish heritage, and during the 70`s when my nan visited Belfast, she and her luggage was searched thoroughly, she and many like her took no offence at this.On the downside, back in England she was spat at in the street for being Irish even though she was loyal to the crown.I fear for my Muslim friends and colleagues if they are attacked/abused out of ignorance and anger. Maybe one solution that may help is for the Imans and preachers to mount major media campaigns decrying the radical version of Islam.

I think of one of Kirk's speeches, on STAR TREK. "We're killers, but we're not going to kill today."
