Self-collaboration?! Trippy, man...
Is JB2018 in any way correcting JB1980?

JB: "Here, the rain is done with a cut edge of a Pink Pearl eraser."
Great. And now, all damn day long, I'm gonna have an image of your having done a pinup of the original X-Men battling the Eraser teamed up with Pink Pearl.
Such a nice lady...

Interesting adjustment to Nightcrawler. Now his costume looks like something that you may have designed yourself. Funny thing is, I'm only just now noticing that Cockrum basically gave him a g-string. I guess the shoulders distracted me from that!

Amazing splash page !!! And please Mr Byrne, now you've said it, I would so much want you to create a character called Serval. It would be such a great joke (for your French-speaking audience)...I would even allow you to use my name as his secret identity.
++++++++++
Did you know that the Serval name has been already used by Marvel? Serval Industries was the sponsor for last X-Factor incarnation! And they used a black "cat" as symbol.

There’s still part of me that isn’t letting me get my hopes too high, but it’s hard, man. It’s hard...

The Great Mystery of Colossus, of course, is why the blue parts of his outfit vanish when he turns to metal. Long before I was assigned to the book I asked Dave, thinking there might be some internal answer. “Because it looks cool,” was his reply. Nuff said! ******************************* If I remember correctly the explanation was something related to the unstable molecules of the uniform. Something akin to Storm's "magical" uniform that could be a night dress (UXM #145), street clothes (UXM #155),... and then a low electric charge and voilà, the uniform was back! |
| | This morning I was doing a little doodling, getting ahead of myself again. I'm planning for the Avengers (circa 1980 vintage) to appear about mid-year, so I decided to revisit a favorite, as a kind of refresher course. I drew a headshot of the Scarlet Witch, and once again the feeling was that it was me from 38 years ago doing the layouts, and me from 2018 doing the finished pencils.This continues to be a fascinating experiment, from my perspective. (No, I'm not going to share the drawing!!)
******************************** Please, get the Beast! Also with the Witch, will we get in some way Quicksilver? Also I hope we get the underrated Jocasta!

Such a nice lady...•• Y'know how I often say I am driven to distraction, from time to time, by the small things? That was one of them. The caption on the cover was supposed to read "SHE'S a Nice Lady," but somehow......

Colossus' now-you-see-them-now-you-don't blue leggings were never an issue for me until I saw an episode of Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends which featured the X-Men. Colossus got knocked out in armoured form and returned to his fleshly form... and the blue part of his outfit returned. Only then did it occur to me that it was a bit of a mystery how that was going on. Kind of highlights the difference between the continuous moving image of film and animation and the snapshot, sequential form of comics.
Much easier to accept it in comics, for me anyway.
