two more random questions relating to this amazing project:

1. any chance we'll see Guardian and Heather (my favorite of all your characters ever) in Elsewhen?

2. I've always been curious what your opinion on Cable (the character) is.  Since you (and Chris) created the very first Summers-Grey child in Rachel, I was wondering if you ever envisioned a Summers-Grey child as such an active part of Scott and Jean's characterization and / or X-men history

The Summers/Grey child to which you refer was a holdover from the pre-Death of Phoenix version of the story. Please note that in the version published, she is nowhere referred to as having anything to do with Scott and Jean.

Unfortunately, Chris never seems to let go of anything. He had begun sabotaging my story before we even got to the last page, and with me no longer there to say “No,” thing just ran completely off the rails.

As to Mac and Heather—yes, they should be appearing some time around issue 8.

It occurs to me that the Wendigo story would not (Yet?) have occurred in the ELSEWHEN continuity, so this would be Heather’s “first” appearance!

It got even worse than that. I don't think that Claremont gets direct blame for this, but I recall OHOTMU stating that the reason why the X-Men did not eliminate the DOFP timeline in #142 was that the divergence point was not Senator Kelly's assassination, but actually Phoenix's death - since Rachel Summers could not have existed otherwise.

The whole central point of my story was that there was no divergence, and could not be. By traveling back thru her own timeline, Kate Pryde created an unbroken chain between herself and Kitty. I’d even convinced Mark “Captain Omiverse” Gruenwald of this. That was how I plotted it, that was what I drew. Then Chris scripted it as something else, something that disemboweled my story. Feasting on the carcass continued for decades.

Just for funzies, I have Kurt and Logan returning from their Canadian adventure in my second issue.

(As some of you will recall, it was in the Wendigo story that Nightcrawler learned Wolverine’s real name, so I play with that a bit.)

Oooh. I'd love to see how you'd write a Kurt/Logan scene. Now that I think about it, the Wendigo story was the first time that they had interacted at that level, wasn't it?
