VERY happy to hear this. This falls into the category of one of those things none of us ever thought would happen, and if it does happen, and happen in an oversized AE shot from pencils, all I can say is wow - a dream come true.

The second panel's narrative caused my brain to leap in an incorrect way. I think this is because the 'the cry' refers back to the previous panel, but my eyes seeing it level with a speech balloon in the same panel made some kind of connection and then suddenly was confused as where the 'is heard' fits. Logically, the way you have laid it out all makes sense, but intuitively my brain got in a muddle.••• Does not your intuition lead you from one block of copy to the next closest block in the panel?

Yes, but there is also a strong compulsion to read left to right and top to bottom.*
*Edited to correct me getting my left and right in a mess.

And as I say, your layout is logical and it is not meant as a criticism in any sense other than as constructive feedback. Just reporting what my eye/brain did, if that is any use. I don't know whether it's the eye absorbing the whole panel, or an inclination to read clockwise, but I did get myself in a pickle for a moment wondering whether it was Manta's utterance in the panel that 'the cry' referred to.

Cockrum's name seems to pop up often when I read articles of seventies Marvel . An influential member of that bullpen. I've never read anything about him being reclusive but I swear there's more pictures of Ditko out there than him .

When young punks like Frank Miller, George Perez, Michael Golden and, yes, me started showing up*, fans were quick to embrace our stuff—most of which was quite different from what had come before. Dave was quickly cast as belonging to the previous “generation” and—worse!—mostly a DC guy. Thru no fault of his own, he got shuffled to the side, and his inability to pump out huge volumes of work got him cut from the book he helped found. —— * Not a comprehensive list.
