My unpopular opinion - I've never been a huge fan of Byrne/Austin, at least in comparison to Byrne/Byrne. I remember thinking the back-up in FF #238 (the story where Ben gets turned back into the mudball Thing) didn't look right to me.

So, my first choice would be JB inking JB - but it sounds like that's off the table / not how the pages have been designed. Mark Farmer is a good choice. Doug Hazelwood did Doom Patrol, right? He would be a good choice too. Or maybe it could be opened up to a rotating cast of inkers? I have to think a lot of inkers would throw their hat in the ring for a chance to ink a new JB X-Men book.

I loved Byrne/Austin in the early X-Men days but I agree their art styles have grown apart. I also like Mary Farmer as well as Paul Neary and Keith Williams.

I thought Keith Williams only did backgrounds.

Maybe he meant Scott Williams? I like how Sandra Hope inks Kubert and Richard Friend does a stellar job with JR Jr. I think either of these inkers would a good fit fr JB's pencils.

I don't know about the inker because I don't read much superheroes comics these days.

About the other complaints you will probably read because it's a little bit predictable I will oppose the positive things you will read:

- It's John Byrne at his best (that's my personal opinion about the panels you shared)

- The best ideas in the movies are all inspired (badly) by his work.

- Byrne's back to write the X-Men!

- We will get his vision of the caracters with no interference at last!

- It's superheroes X-Men and no X-Men vs X-Men vs evil mutants who are good guys vs good mutants acting evil...

Jay Leisten might be an option, if you're looking for young blood on inks. He's one of Marvel's current "go-to" guys, especially for X-Men books.

Thanks, Gil. And I see he’s already been suggested.

JB your list of reactions to Elsewhere is dead on, both funny and sad.  What a world.

Not to speak specifically of any of the people suggested, but a main concern, of course, would be discipline and professionalism. Don't want a fill-in inker on the third issue!!

Kitty's power is being used incorrectly! (Well, it's being used as I, the creator of the character, intended. Is that "incorrect"?)
-----------

The thought behind this is what makes the possibility of this series so exciting.  To see how the characters you helped develop or create can be used under YOUR writing and ideas.  To see where YOU wanted them to go after 137, without the shackles of co-plotters or editors.
